The Analogue 3D eventually began shipping on November 18 after facing multiple delays. However, the 8BitDo 64 Bluetooth Controller designed for the console has already been available for months, although it was also delayed. Thankfully, the controller is also compatible with other devices, so those who already own it may have already put it to use.
Now that the Analogue 3D has begun shipping, both 8BitDo and Analogue have issued a public service announcement regarding the 8BitDo 64 Bluetooth Controller. According to posts made on the social media accounts of both brands, owners of the 8BitDo 64 Bluetooth Controller are required to update their controller before using it with the Analogue 3D.
In 8BitDo's words, the update is “critical for all of the new Analogue 3D users”. Analogue, on the other hand, said in its own post that “the latest update provides optimal functionality for Analogue 3D”. According to the 8BitDo support page, the latest firmware available for the controller is version 2.02, and the changelog says that the analog stick performance has been optimized.
To update the controller, owners must download the 8BitDo Ultimate Software V2 for Windows or macOS. Once the program is installed, launch it, power up the 8BitDo 64 Bluetooth Controller, and connect it to your computer via a USB-C cable. The program should automatically recognize the controller. Follow the on-screen prompts to update the controller's firmware.
The 8BitDo 64 Bluetooth Controller is currently available to purchase on Amazon for $39.99. The controller works with the Analogue 3D, Nintendo Switch 1 and Switch 2, as well as devices running Android and Windows. It features Hall Effect joysticks, metal joystick rings, and connects via Bluetooth 5.0 or a USB-C cable.
