Gustavo Bonzanini, a designer, has made a pair of custom Nike sneakers to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Japanese launch of the SNES. The sneakers match the console colors and even house a console that connects to a TV.

If you didn't think much of the Xbox-themed Crocs, then the AIR SNES sneakers should blow your mind. Based on the Nike Air Max 90, these sneakers feature a design inspired by the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). However, unlike the Xbox Classic Clog, which is just a footwear, the AIR SNES features a built-in console.

Designed by Gustavo Bonzanini, the AIR SNES features a Raspberry Pi Zero W with a custom RetroPie emulator for playing SNES games. The same foot also has an analog converter, so users can connect it to the TV using RCA cables instead of the Raspberry Pi's mini HDMI port. There's also a battery that provides up to 30 minutes of gameplay.

While you might assume the components are hidden in the sole of the sneakers, they are actually located in the tongue.

For the controller, Bonzanini opted for an original SNES controller but upgraded it with an 8BitDo Mod Kit for SNES/SFC Classic Edition Controller so that it can connect via Bluetooth. The 8BitDo SN30 Pro Bluetooth Gamepad (available on Amazon for $44.99) is also a great alternative that doesn't require any tinkering.

Bonzanini says the sneakers were made to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the console's launch in Japan. Although it is important to note that the console was called the Super Famicom in Nintendo's home country, and had a different color scheme from the one Bonzanini chose for the custom sneakers.

Nevertheless, the AIR SNES is an interesting product, albeit one you can't buy as there are no plans to mass-produce it.
