Xiaomi has clarified details about what company represenatives describe as the company's 'first true flagship mini tablet'. For context, there were suggestions late last week that Xiaomi was preparing the global version of the Redmi K Pad for an 'imminent global release'.
To recap, the Redmi K Pad landed in June to rival other compact high-end tablets like the iPad mini 7, Legion Y700 4th Gen and the RedMagic Astra (curr. $799 on Amazon). As expected, Xiaomi has decided to rebrand the Redmi K Pad for global audiences as the Xiaomi Pad Mini. By the sounds of things from the video below, the Pad Mini will bring across all of the hardware from the Redmi K Pad.
For example, Xiaomi has confirmed that the Pad Mini utilises an 8.8-inch, 165 Hz and 3K display within a housing that weighs just 326 g. Moreover, the Pad Mini combines a MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ chipset with a 7,500 mAh battery that supports 67 W wired and 18 W reverse wired charging. On top of that, the company has indicated that the Pad Mini retains USB 3.2 Type-C ports with DisplayPort Alt Mode support from the Redmi K Pad, too.
Xiaomi has only revealed the Pad Mini in a single colour option so far, which it claims has a sandblasted design to achieve a matte back panel. An official case accessory can also be seen throughout, which we suspect is a nod to a second colour option. Unfortunately, Xiaomi has confirmed the Pad Mini will not be appearing during next week's global launch event. For the time being, it has not offered any indication about when the Pad Mini will be available, either.
