Update | Tecno first-gen retractable-lens Android flagship smartphone pre-orders coming to Amazon.in

Update: The Tecno Phantom X2 Pro with the specs as below can now be pre-ordered on Amazon.in in Stardust Gray or Mars Orange for INR 49,999 (~US$613). This may or may not strike potential buyers as a great price for the world's first retractable lens smartphone, although the retailer is offering possible additional discounts with an eligible exchange. 

Original Article: Tecno may seem obscure among Android smartphone OEMs for some; however, the company has recently shot to the upper echelons of global recognition thanks to products such as the Phantom X2 Pro 5G. It was honestly not clear whether the brand's inaugural retractable-lens device was a concept of some kind or not at its launch - however, it will now officially go to pre-order soon.

This is particularly good news for fans of mobile portrait photography fans in India, as Tecno will sell the cutting-edge Phantom X2 Pro through Amazon in this country. Then again, their enthusiasm for potentially long-awaited new tech just might be tempered by the smartphone's price.

Handsets with ultra-high-end camera gimmicks such as this are often combined with specs that may be underwhelming otherwise. However, that is much less the case with the X2 Pro - it rocks the high-end (albeit last-gen) Dimensity 9000 SoC, for a start.

Tecno and Amazon have also announced that the Phantom X2 Pro will be available in 12GB LPDDR5 RAM/256GB internal storage configurations. Then again, the partners have chosen to leave its final price to the imagination until its pre-orders begin on January 17, 2023.

Hopefully, its premium specs and features will not cause too much sticker-shock during the X2 Pro's inaugural retail outing on that date.
