Tecno has announced that it is coming to MWC 2023 with its first ever flexible-display mobile device. The Phantom V Fold is officially backed to rival devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4, albeit with a different processor that will also make it a world first by default. The chipset should also confer 5G and Bluetooth 5.3 on the upcoming "large-screen" phablet.

Tecno is "delighted" to preview what is billed as a major milestone for the company: the launch of its inaugural foldable smartphone. The company has also confirmed that it will run on the "top-of-the-line" Dimensity 9000+ from MediaTek.

The OEM also now asserts that the Phantom V Fold will be the world's first device to bring the chipset to its form factor. The OPPO Find N2 Flip is already out there with the same SoC; therefore, by process of elimination, the first-gen Tecno foldable will be more like the top-end Find N2 instead.

Tecno refers to the form-factor as a "left-right foldable smartphone", which is indeed a way to describe the alleged live-image leaks of the V Fold thus far. On that note, the OEM has indeed confirmed that it will launch on February 28, 2023, as part of an MWC 2023 showcase. It is rumored to go on sale in India thereafter.
