Huawei "Mate X3" leaks as a foldable smartphone with a massive rear camera hump
Huawei's Mate X2 is a foldable device with specs that strive to match its sky-high launch price as much as possible. However, according to the latest leak, it is destined to end up looking quite restrained compared to its supposedly upcoming successor, starting at the camera hump.
The OEM is indeed projected to supplant its Mate Xs 2 with a new flagship that folds in the other direction some time in 2023. Now, this "X3" has allegedly appeared in a new live image.
The photo in question does not pose much of a risk of exposing its design, however, as it is effectively disguised in an anti-leak case that even has a little hinged flap for its rear camera hump.
Then again, as this door is open, it is apparent that, should this device really be the Mate X3, it has upgraded to a rear camera hump probably quite like that of its 50-series siblings in appearance.
Accordingly, it may launch with quad rear cameras arranged on either side of a long, thin central flash and 2 additional sensors laid out in a vertical line.
The nature and quality of these shooters are yet to be guessed at, although they conceivably could be quite similar to those of the Mate 50 series, if not the reportedly upgraded P60 series.
Meanwhile, the X3 is also now said to have a fairly competitive 4,800mAh battery with Huawei's moderately fast, if aging, 66W charging tech, not to mention the possibility of being able to message via satellite.
