Rumor | Huawei Mate X3 with updated satellite connectivity will beat P60 series to launch
Huawei partnered with Beidou to bring satellite connectivity to the Mate 50 series in China. Then again, the service is restricted compared to Apple's offering, even though both are first-gen examples of their breakthrough smartphone feature.
Accordingly, the 50 series can only send short messages and co-ordinates via satellite. However, the service is thought to upgrade to support for the ability to send messages in text and voice format, and perhaps even make short voice calls.
This technology is now projected to debut in the Mate X3, Huawei's rumored return to the popular vertically-folding, cover display-enabled phablet category.
The device is also now touted to launch ahead of the P60 series - then again, reports of its approval for sale in China have yet to emerge, even though the more conventional smartphones may have secured the necessary registrations.
Furthermore, this is only the latest in a stream of Mate X3 launch predictions, all of which the rumored foldable has managed to flout thus far.
