The latest One UI 6.1.1 update was released during Galaxy Unpacked 2024 and it comes pre-installed on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6. This update will soon be available for other eligible Galaxy devices, bringing new features and enhancements. However, the update that Samsung fans are truly anticipating is the Android 15-based One UI 7.0. For those eagerly awaiting this major release, there’s good news on the horizon.
According to a reliable leaker, Ice Universe, Samsung plans to release a One UI 7.0 beta at the end of July (i.e. next week) or at the beginning of August with Galaxy S24 series devices slated to be the first to get the update. As is usually the case, lower-end Samsung phones will follow suit shortly afterwards, with entry-level devices joining the party in early 2025.
Ice Universe previously indicated that One UI 7.0 would have super-smooth animations akin to iOS and ColorOS. However, the tweet was deleted. Samsung has not confirmed or denied that leak's authenticity.
If the previous leaks and rumors are to be believed, the list of changes will also include redesigned icons, a revamped Quick Panel layout, a redesigned camera app with a quick controls bar near the mode switcher, a basic App Lock and a vertical app drawer that will be accessible through Good Lock.
