Motorola has outlined plans to release a new smartphone, which it claims will be the 'world's slimmest MIL-810 military grade phone'. While the company is attempting to keep the device under wraps for now, various leakers have not only shared official images but have also shared key specifications that position it between the existing Edge 50 Fusion and Edge 50 Pro.

Motorola is not done with the Edge 50 series just yet. For context, the company has released three models so far, which it sells as the Edge 50 Fusion, Edge 50 Pro and Edge 50 Ultra. Although the trio span €399 to €999 price points, Motorola is seeking to expand the series with at least another two models.

On the one hand, there is evidence that the company has developed the Edge 50 Neo, which we have covered separately. On the other hand, it seems that the Edge 50 5G could soon be upon us, not to be confused with the similar-looking Edge 2024 that Motorola sells in North America (curr. $449.99 on Amazon). While the device was initially expected to arrive in Europe for €599, all indications now point towards Motorola unveiling the Edge 50 5G in India before offering it in other markets.

Specifically, Motorola will announce the Edge 50 5G tomorrow in India as the 'world's slimmest MIL-810 military grade phone'. In the meantime, various sources have shared photos of the device, which official teasers confirm are legitimate. Consequently, the Edge 50 5G appears set to land in three colour options, all with a design that resembles the Edge 50 Pro's. To that end, the Edge 50 5G is rumoured to contain 50 MP primary, 13 MP ultra-wide-angle and 10 MP rear-facing cameras with 13 mm to 73 mm equivalent focal lengths.

A few differences exist between the Edge 50 5G and Edge 50 Pro, though. For example, Motorola is said to have swapped the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset that powers the latter for MediaTek's Dimensity 7300. Additionally, the Edge 50 5G is expected to contain a 6.4-inch display, as well as a 32 MP front-facing camera and a 4,400 mAh battery that supports 68 W wired charging. In other words, the Edge 50 5G will combine hardware from both the Edge 50 Fusion and Edge 50 Pro, albeit with a more compact overall design.
