A recent report hinted at a tentative late July or early August timeframe for Samsung One UI 7.0 beta release. Now, we have a precise date thanks to reliable leaker Max Jambor, who claims beta testing will commence on Monday, July 29. Moreover, leaked screenshots of a One UI 7.0 beta build have surfaced, suggesting substantial changes to the user interface are coming.
A previous report implied that One UI 7.0 might draw significant inspiration from iOS 18, and the leaked images appear to support the claim. Screenshots posted by SmartPrix and tipster chunvn8888 reveal various visual design refinements such as the adoption of rounder UI elements.
The leaked screenshots reveal a revamped notification bar and quick settings layout akin to what Apple iOS and Xiaomi MIUI/HyperOS have. Unlike the current layout with notifications residing right below quick settings toggles, the One UI 7.0 build pictured appears to separate the two into dedicated sections presumably to give more space to quick settings, making day-to-day use easier on the fingers.
The South Korean tech giant appears to have baked various cross-device features similar to what is already available on certain phones and tablets into the upcoming OS update as well. This is slated to enable Galaxy users to do things such as seamless switching between different devices connected to the same Samsung account in video calls - no need to terminate the current call and start a new one.
Stock app icons appear to have been completely redesigned - Dialer, Contacts, Settings, Camera, Gallery, Browser, Theme - all of them. Thanks to the sources mentioned, we also get a preliminary look at how Samsung's version of Dynamic Island will function. Unlike the central cascading effect employed by iOS devices, Samsung’s implementation will make use of the left side of the status bar.
There is no certainty if the new OS build will indeed become available for early testing on July 29 and if it will come with the tweaks described. Given Samsung has yet to make any official announcement regarding One UI 7.0, it’s best to approach this information with caution.
