Galactic evolution. The Galaxy S9 is a great smartphone with powerful specifications and an excellent camera. Samsung unfortunately waives a dual-camera for this smartphone and reduced the RAM, but the price has nevertheless increased. We check if it makes sense to switch.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Review: A Powerful But Premium-Priced Tablet
Source: Lowyat.net English
The start of my conclusion is one you’ve no doubt heard over and over, especially when it is in reference to a Samsung product: at RM3,699, the Galaxy Tab S9 is by no means cheap nor is it affordable, but I am hardly exaggerating when I say that this is a premium, high-end tablet that really makes its pedigree shine through. My contention with its already smaller form factor notwithstanding, 11-inches is still a lot easier to whip out in the middle of an airport terminal or coffee shop, be it to casually binge on a series you’ve been dying to catch up on, or to simply reply to emails quickly. The latter task made simpler, thanks in no small part to the keyboard cover that it comes bundled with. At the end of the day, the Tab S9 is, quite sincerely, the very definition of the phrase “You get what you pay for”. Given the hardware, power, and performance, it is, in my eyes, worth every red sen that Samsung is asking for.

Galaxy S9 vs. Galaxy S9+: Which Phone Should You Buy?
Source: Tom's Guide English Archive.org version
After reviewing both the 6.2-inch Galaxy S9+ and the 5.8-inch Galaxy S9, we think the S9+ offers enough extra features and performance to justify its higher price tag. Still, the S9 is a solid upgrade over past Samsung phones in its own right and is a good choice for anyone who wants a smaller device or balks at paying more than $750 for a smartphone.

Much of what I’ve noted isn’t all that positive, but that’s not to say either of these phones are bad. They do the main things very well, like general usage, smooth performance, great photos and elegant design. It’s not the sum that’s bad, it’s some of the parts that force compromises.

Galaxy S9 vs. Galaxy S9+: Which Phone Should You Buy?
Source: Tom's Guide English Archive.org version
As noted, the Galaxy S9+ costs more than the Galaxy S9. Samsung sells its larger phone for a starting price of $840 while the unlocked S9 is available for $720. (Again, that's for the 64GB model. The 128GB S9 costs $770, while the 128GB S9+ costs $890; you'll pay $840 and $960 for the 256GB version of the S9 and S9+, respectively.) Prices on the two phones vary from carrier to carrier, but generally, you'll find a $120-$130 price difference between the two models.

Despite its less-than-stellar endurance, the Galaxy S9 reminds us why Samsung remains a staple in the Android lineup every year. It refines all of the Galaxy S8's accomplishments and improves on its flaws, fitting almost every headline feature imaginable into a phone that's readily available across all carriers without costing an arm and a leg compared to similar alternatives. With the Galaxy S9, you don't have to choose between a great camera and a headphone jack, or between small bezels and stereo speakers. It's a jack of all trades that just does everything right, so long as you don't need two-day battery life.

It’s future- forward design, the stunningly bright display and a re-engineered camera is an attractive proposition if you have the the money lying around, but it’s unlikely to deliver the satisfaction of buying something unique. Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus Review – Perfected or astray?
Source: Android Guys English Archive.org version
On the other hand, the S9 and S9 Plus don’t offer a whole lot from their predecessors. It’s the most minimal refresh we’ve seen from Samsung. And when that happens, it muddles the recommendation. Most will probably agree that the S9’s updates aren’t worth hundreds more. And it doesn’t help that its most highlighted feature, the variable aperture camera, doesn’t actually equate to much. The considerable benefits of the S9 are the dual speakers, wide f/1.5 lens, corrected fingerprint scanner location, and brighter screen. It’ll be up to you if that’s worth the extra dough.

The variable aperture shows that the South Korean firm is committed to coming up with its own unique ideas, but while the results are impressive when compared to the competition, we suspect most other handset makers will opt to use software tricks to boost the low-light performance of their smartphones, as is the case with the Pixel 2.

Overall, the Galaxy S9 is another winner from the South Korean giant, even if, fundamentally, what we're getting is a new phone in an older casing. All of the big changes on the Galaxy S9 Plus - and the standard S9 - take place on the inside; the outer shell is almost identical to last year's device. While there are a lot of elements in this package which don't work as well as they possibly should - AR Emojis being the prime example - there's no escaping the fact that in the fast-changing world of Android smartphones, the S9 Plus is the best that money can buy right now.

Finally the recommendation of the Galaxy S9 will be based on which market you are in and which variant you’ll be able to purchase. The Snapdragon 845 variant in the US, China and Japan is a healthy upgrade over its predecessors and I don’t really have much to say against it as a phone, besides the camera exposure issues. We're going to have to wait for big jumps in technology, but although the Galaxy S9 only brings a disappointingly small bunch of minor improvements it's still an amazing smartphone that will be hard to beat in 2018. Samsung has expertly combined design, hardware and software to make a phone that will appeal to all kinds of users.

Samsung hasn’t made any drastic changes to the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ compared to their predecessors, and the company didn’t really need to do much. Last year's design is still stunning, and now, it’s a little more polished. We’ve seen Apple do that with its iPhones for a couple of years at a stretch, so this is nothing new. If you really want to stand out, get either phone in the new Lilac Purple colour option.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 is a great phone, but one that hasn't really kicked on from the Galaxy S8, bringing a very similar design and screen to 2017's version. The improved biometrics were sorely needed, and the camera is a leap forward, but the amazing low light capabilities have resulted in sacrifices elsewhere. A top, top phone, but the S9 Plus outshines it.

Finally, it's worth noting that the price of Samsung's S range is slowly creeping up. Last year, the S8 retailed for S$1,148, while the S8+ was S$1,298. This year, the S9 is S$1,198, and the S9+ starts at $1,348 for the 64GB model, and goes up to S$1,498 for the 256GB model. That's S$100 more than last year's Note8 (albeit it was only made available with 64GB internal storage).

Samsung Galaxy S9 review: Here’s the problem with this perfect phone…
Source: Soycincau English Archive.org version
The smartphone as we know it today has been around for about a decade now and while the recent shift in form-factor did breathe some new life into it, there doesn’t seem to be much more “revolutionary firsts” left with this blueprint. Instead, it’s now a battle of perfection and I think Samsung’s brand new Galaxy S9 is evidence of that.

The Galaxy S9 and S9+ are subtle upgrades to last year’s S8 line. The most significant improvements are found in the fingerprint scanner position, the new intelligent face scan feature, the AR Emoji 3D avatars, and the camera, but only for the S9+, which gets the secondary zoom camera of the Note 8. In any case, if you’re a current Galaxy S8 user, we’d say an upgrade to the S9 would be completely unnecessary, but that’s expected. Just a quick personal observation. Samsung is finally learning to play the crowd with the Galaxy S9. Instead of just throwing new features, they're making sure things work better, and play better with each other. Like we said earlier, potentially the most significant upgrades the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ bring are in the camera department - super-slow mo recording at 960fps, dual aperture capability on the rear camera sensor, which is capable of shooting at f/2.4 when there’s plenty of light, but can switch to f/1.5 when the phone detects low-light conditions. This is supplemented by a secondary 12-megapixel sensor on the Galaxy S9+ for a dual rear camera setup. Needless to say, the time we spent with the Galaxy S9 duo on Sunday wasn’t enough to make any definite comments on their camera capability, and we look forward to testing them out in detail soon.

Model: First announced in February 2018 and expected to arrive in March 2018, the new Android 8.0 (Oreo) Samsung Galaxy S9, is about to take the wave among all Samsung lovers with its 4 range of colors; Midnight Black, Coral Blue, Titanium Gray, and Lilac Purple. It is noted to have the best smartphone display in the market by DisplayMate. It is 8.5 mm in thickness and 163 g in weight. It goes by the size of 147.7 x 68.7 x 8.5 mm and is built on a front/back Gorilla Glass 5, lined with an aluminum frame. Single SIM (Nano-SIM) and hybrid dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by) models are available. The benefit of this new addition to the Android family, is that it comes with Samsung Pay (Visa, MasterCard certified), and is IP68 certified towards being dust and waterproof resistant up to 1.5 meter and 30 minutes. It is blanketed with a Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen of 16M colors. Its 5.8 inches QHD+ screen features 567 PPI, a resolution of 1,440 x 2,960 pixels, and a 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Not to mention, it comes with a multi-touch function, is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5, is HDR10 compliant, offers 3D Touch for the home button, and has an always-on display.

It runs on an octa-core CPU (4x 2.7 GHz Mongoose M3 and 4x 1.8 GHz Cortex-A55) for EMEA, and an octa-core (4x 2.7 Ghz Kryo 385 Gold & 4x 1.7 GHz Kryo 385 Silver) for the US and China, and a Mali-G72 MP18 GPU for EMEA and an Adreno 630 GPU for the US and China. The chipset works on an Exynos 9810 Octa for the EMEA and Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 845 for US and China. Moreover, it contains a microSD card slot, which supports up to 400 GB and uses the second SIM slot for dual SIM model only. The phone comes with 64, 128 or 256 GB of internal storage and 4 GB RAM. Added features to boost the interest among Android lovers, is the 12 MP camera with dual pixel PDAF, phase detection autofocus, OIS, and LED flash for its primary camera, whilst the secondary camera works on an 8 MP, autofocus, at 1440p@30fps, dual video call, and auto HDR. Its connectivity includes WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, FM radio, and a reversible USB-3.1 Type-C 1.0 connector. The Samsung Galaxy S9 supports fast battery charging (Quick Charge 2.0) of its , non-removable lithium-ion battery with 3,000 mAh (11.55 Wh). On the surface, the S9 may look very much like the S8, but on the inside, it has fixed a lot of the features missing from the S8. It also looks better and because of the new fingerprint sensor location, is more practical to be used. The S9 is a worthy upgrade for those who are looking for the latest in the market, but for those who are already using the S8 may want to skip this model.

5.80":

It is a very small display format for smartphones. You should by no means be mis-sighted and you will generally see very little on the screen and only have a small resolution available. In return, the device should be very small and handy.

» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.

Samsung: Samsung Group is the largest South Korean conglomerate and was founded in 1938. Samsung Group employed 489,000 people in 2014 and is one of the world's largest companies in terms of revenue and market strength. The name Samsung means "Three Stars" in Korean and represents the three sons of the company's founder. The company was founded in 1938 as a grocery store. With its subsidiary Samsung Electronics, founded in 1969, Samsung took up the production of electrotechnical items, focusing on consumer electronics and household appliances at an early stage. Other branches in which the large corporation is active include mechanical engineering, automobiles (Hyundai), insurance, wholesale, real estate and leisure. Samsung manufactures a wide range of electronic products, including smartphones, televisions, home appliances and semiconductors. The company's Galaxy line of smartphones is one of the most popular in the world. Samsung is also a major player in the semiconductor industry, making memory chips and processors for many other electronics manufacturers.

85.51%: This is an above-average rating. Nevertheless, it should not be forgotten that about one fifth of all tested models receive a better rating.
