Reviews for the Samsung Galaxy A05s
The cheapest Samsung smartphone of 2024 is called Galaxy A05s. For an official price of 159 euros, the 6.7-inch device has everything you need for everyday use, but not much more. We find out in the test whether this is still enough to keep the competition at bay.

The Samsung Galaxy A05 is positioned as an ultra-affordable option in the smartphone market. Its pricing is particularly appealing for those who need essential smartphone functionalities without breaking the bank. The Samsung Galaxy A05s, on the other hand, sits at a slightly higher price bracket, offering enhanced features for a modest increase in cost. The A05s brings to the table improvements in areas such as display quality, with a Full HD Plus IPS display and a higher refresh rate of 90Hz. These upgrades make the A05s an attractive option for users who prioritize better display and performance but are still mindful of their budget. The Galaxy A05s, while slightly more expensive, justifies its higher price with better display resolution, a higher refresh rate, and additional features like the fingerprint sensor. For users who spend significant time on their phones, whether for media consumption or more demanding applications, the extra investment in the A05s could offer a noticeably enhanced experience.

After thoroughly examining the Samsung Galaxy A05s, it’s evident that Samsung continues to redefine what’s possible in the realm of budget smartphones. The A05s stands out with its impressive display, sporting a 6.7-inch Full HD+ screen with a 90Hz refresh rate, providing a smooth and visually appealing experience that’s uncommon in its price range. The build quality, while predominantly plastic, is sturdy and aesthetically pleasing, offering a design that feels more premium than its price tag would suggest. Performance-wise, the Snapdragon 680 chipset does a commendable job. It handles day-to-day tasks with ease and proves sufficient for light gaming. The inclusion of 4GB of RAM in the base model, with options for more, ensures multitasking is handled reasonably well. The storage options are generous, with the base model starting at 128GB, a notable improvement over many budget phones.

The dedicated microSD card slot and 3.5mm audio jack are both nice-to-haves but hardly exclusive to the Galaxy A05s nor enough to make up for some of the other more central issues we encountered. If you really want a Samsung at this price point, then we would probably go for the Galaxy A14 5G or Galaxy A24 4G instead, depending on where you live and your budget. We liked our time with both of those devices more than the A05s. Or, alternatively, shop around a bit more.

Samsung Galaxy A05s
The latest to join the marketplace from the Samsung family is the Samsung Galaxy A05s. It is a known fact that Samsung’s Galaxy S (and Z foldables) get all the headlines due to its flagship offerings, but Samsung does offer a wider array of handsets to suit folks who cannot or would not meet the premium price points of its flagships which is the Galaxy A series. The Galaxy A05s has to be one of Samsung’s cheapest, at least for now. In terms of it design, it is quite evident that Samsung is not intending to burden the user’s wallet for the Galaxy A05s as it is very clear that it is a decent phone for its price range. The phone is built around a 6.7 inch display which is large for this price, with a decent 1080×2400 resolution. However, unlike many of Samsung’s phones, this model does not carry an AMOLED panel, but rather a more regular PLS LCD one. It is also worth mentioning that Samsung Galaxy A05s is only available in single colour variation which is the Awesome Black. Apart from that, this phone incorporates a 3.5mm headphone jack into its base, to the left of its USB-C charging port. This is definitely a great news for users who are fans of cabled headphones as the Galaxy A05s is ready to work for such users.
In terms of its camera setup, this Galaxy phone comes in with three lenses which are comprised of a primary 50MP sensor, 2MP macro and 2MP depth sensor. On the front, there is a 13MP selfie camera housed in a teardrop style notch. While that is not entirely a bad phone recipe at this price point, it is definitely not a stellar one in sheer technical terms. It is undeniable that the primary 50MP sensor is not particularly fast to focus, but it provides some decent shots on the whole given its price point. It fails nearly exactly where one would expect it to fail, such as lower light areas losing detail pretty rapidly. Furthermore, the 50MP sensor does support digital zoom, with a standard 2x mode built into the camera, pushing all the way up to 10x. As for its performance, Samsung plays it rather coy when it comes to the internal processor in the Galaxy A05s, noting just that it’s an “octa core” system with cores at 2.4Ghz and 1.9Ghz. It is worth noting that this is a rather standard tactic Samsung uses often to cover over whether a particular phone is running on Qualcomm silicon or Samsung’s own Exynos SoC with each having their own advantages and trade-offs. This phone has been equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680, which might not be the newest processor kid on the block, but not out of the realm of expected at this price point. The phone operates quite decently for light task but can get slow with more demanding Android apps. Talking about its battery, this model carries a 5,000mAh battery. Overall, it is a great device to be explored, depending on the need and preference of the user.

Qualcomm Adreno 610: Integrated (in the Snapdragon 665) graphics card based on the Adreno 600 architecture. The performance of the GPU is between the Adreno 510 and 512/612 and therefore in the lower mid range. Supports DirectX11_1, Vulkan 1.0, OpenCL 2.0, OpenGL ES 3.2.
Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.

SD 680: Fast mid-range ARM SoC with 8 CPU Kryo 265 cores (four fast 2.4 GHz ARM Cortex-A73 based cores in a cluster and four power saving ARM Cortex-A53 based cores at 1.8 GHz) and a rather slow Adreno 610 GPU. Manufactured in 6 nm.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

It is a small display format for smartphones. You shouldn't be severely defective in vision, and you won't see much detail on the screen and only have a small resolution available. For that, the device should be small and handy, easy to transport.

Other branches in which the large corporation is active include mechanical engineering, automobiles (Hyundai), insurance, wholesale, real estate and leisure. Samsung manufactures a wide range of electronic products, including smartphones, televisions, home appliances and semiconductors. The company's Galaxy line of smartphones is one of the most popular in the world. Samsung is also a major player in the semiconductor industry, making memory chips and processors for many other electronics manufacturers.
72.06%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
