The 13.3” notebook has a multi-touch screen, an Intel Core i3-330 and costs £649

Toshiba UK has launched its new Satellite U500-1EX notebook, which features a 13.3” multi-touch screen. This portable notebook weighs 2.15kg and is equipped with a 2.13GHz Intel Core i3-330M processor along with 4GB of DDR3 memory. The i3-330M is a powerful processor for a machine of this size and is ranked 55 in our CPU benchmark list; just ahead of the Intel Core 2 Duo T7500. Like the other processors in the Intel Core i range, the i3-330M has a Mobile Intel HD GPU integrated into its housing, providing users with reasonable graphical performance for undemanding tasks. To find out more about the 330M please take a look at our dedicated page.

The 1EX's multi-touch functionality is catered for by Microsoft's Touch Pack for Windows 7, which is pre-installed, along with Surface Globe, Collage and Lagoon. The notebook also comes with a 320GB capacity hard drive, WLAN 802.11 b/g/n, a HD webcam with microphone, a DVD Super-Multi DL drive, and Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR. It also features an eSATA/USB combination port and a HDMI port. Toshiba has set its RRP at £649, but it will undoubtedly appear far cheaper at various UK e-tailers.
