$99 Netbook from Augen hits the markets in USA, but customer satisfaction might be a concern

The online shopping store, Kmart has begun selling Android tablets which will mark the beginning of mobile device business. Kmart said that they have already sold the $150 Android tablet from Augen, and more notebooks are likely to arrive at the store so that it can maintain the demand-supply ratio. You might not be able to find the netbook in the entire Kmart store but one of the readers of Engadget has informed them that he had actually found a $99 Android powered netbook from Augen. He is not the only one; even the AndroidGuys have posted some of the pictures of the $99 notebook.

Now, what do you expect from a $99 notebook, obviously not much. It has a 7-inch screen with a resolution of 800 × 480 pixels, a 400MHz CPU, 128MB of RAM and runs on Android 1.6.

The overall review suggests that the system is on the slower side and sometime prevents installing of app from the Android Market itself. Having said that, with the price tag of $99 you do get web browser, Gmail app, Google Maps and a number of necessary apps. This is not bad a laptop though, but it would be nice if we can see a higher version of Android supporting the system and surely a faster processor with a better Android Market App. If you need to know more about the gadget you can visit Engadget.
