Xiaomi has started offering a new AMD Strix Halo mini PC on its crowdfunding platform, Youpin. Called the "Star Core Super AI Computer," the system features the Ryzen AI Max+ 395, which is the top-end option within the lineup. It's paired with 128 GB of RAM and 2 TB of storage, and the initial crowdfunding price is set at CNY 13,999, about $1,941. This price will go up to CNY 15,999 after the crowdfunding phase, which is around $2,218.
Of course, the system is not actually from Xiaomi. Instead, it's manufactured by a Chinese company called "Linglong," and the design of this new Strix Halo mini PC is very similar to the H02 from the Lenovo subsidiary LCFC, which itself has a somewhat identical design to the Corsair AI Workstation 300.
Getting back to the specs of this new mini PC, the company highlights that 96 GB of the 128 GB of LPDDR5 RAM can be assigned as the VRAM for the Radeon 8060S iGPU. This would eventually allow the Strix Halo system to offer enhanced AI performance.
The Radeon 8060S iGPU is also great for gaming, and as we concluded in our analysis, the performance of this iGPU is on par with the RTX 4070 Laptop GPU. Other than that, Linglong's new mini PC comes with a decent selection of I/O ports, including:
- 2x USB 2.0 Type-A
- 3x USB 3.2 Type-A
- 1x HDMI 2.1
- 1x DisplayPort 1.4
- 2x USB4
- 1x 2.5G Ethernet
- 1x 3.5 mm audio
For wireless connectivity, the mini PC has WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. Other highlights include two PCIe 4.0 slots for SSDs, a 120 W performance mode, and a relatively compact form factor. This Linglong Strix Halo system is unlikely to make a global debut, but the good part is that the Corsair AI Workstation 300, Colorful Smart 900, and other Ryzen AI Max+ 395 mini PCs have already made an international debut (128 GB GMKtec EVO-X2 curr. $1,999.99 on Amazon).
