The launch of the WF-1000XM6 has been rumoured for some time, following the official arrival of the WH-1000XM6 (curr. $428 on Amazon) earlier this year. So far, sightings of the WF-1000XM6 have been consigned to import filings and a brief appearance in the Sound Connect app. Now, The Walkman Blog has spotted Sony patenting something rather unusual internationally.
As the screenshots below show, the company has sought to trademark '1000X The Collexion' and '1000X The Collection' with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office. Moreover, a similar patent was filed with the Japan Patent Office. Based on the information contained below, 1000X The Collection encompasses headphones and earbuds, among other audio-related equipment.
In The Walkman Blog's view, the new trademarks indicate that special edition versions of existing Sony earbuds and headphones could in development. Still, its appearance amid rumours about the WF-1000XM6 has got fans hoping that these patents relate to Sony's next pair of high-end wireless earbuds. At this stage, Sony is expected to introduce the WF-1000XM6 sometime this autumn. Therefore, it is not completely out of the realms of possibility that '1000X The Collection' could be linked to the WF-1000XM6 in one way or another.
