First look at the Pixel Buds 2a shows a redesigned case and trimmed stabilizer arcs

The Pixel launch event happening later this month will not only bring new smartphones but a new pair of earbuds — specifically the Pixel Buds 2a. The new earbuds will arrive as successors to the Pixel Buds A-series released in 2021. Ahead of the launch event, a leak has revealed what the new pair of earbuds looks like.

Published by Android Headlines, the Pixel Buds 2a are shown to have a refreshed design, although they don't stray too much from the look of the previous generation. The earbuds in the leaked render have a white case that appears to be a bit rounder than the case of the original Pixel Buds A-series.

Google is sticking to its design of matching the color of the inside of the case to that of the earbuds. According to the source, this color is called Iris, and it matches one of the colors of the Pixel 9a. The Pixel Buds 2a will also be available in two other colors called Strawberry and Fog Light.

The inside of the case has been redesigned and that's because the earbuds have a new look. Unlike the Pixel Buds A which have protruding stabilizer arcs for a secure fit, that isn't the case with the Pixel Buds 2a. We do not think the stabilizer arcs are gone; chances are that they have been redesigned to look like those on the Pixel Buds Pro 2 (curr. available on Amazon for $189).

Furthermore, the new earbuds also have large but recessed microphone holes. Although, they are covered with a black mesh and not a color-matching one as is the case with the Pixel Buds Pro 2.

The technical features of the Pixel Buds 2a are currently unknown but while they should be an upgrade over those of the previous generation, there will be enough to distinguish them from the pricier pro model. When they do arrive, the Pixel Buds 2a will face stiff competition from rivals such as the OnePlus Buds 4, Nothing Ear (a), and CMF Buds 2 Plus.
