Fiio has unveiled the petite Snowsky Melody digital audio converter (DAC) with a body made from imported North American aged wood for high-resolution music enthusiasts. The DAC supports high-resolution music codecs, including DSD256 and 384 kHz 32-bit PCM, thanks to its dual Cirrus Logic MasterHIFI D/A converters.
The DAC outputs music with a frequency range of 20 Hz to 50 kHz with a THD+N less than 0.00066% (0 dB, 32 Ω) and a SNR greater than 123 dB (32 Ω, A-weighted) over 3.5 mm single-ended headphone connections, or with a THD+N less than 0.0003% (0 dB, 32 Ω) and a SNR greater than 127 dB (32 Ω, A-weighted) over 4.4 mm balanced headphone connections.
The Melody can drive single-ended headphones with up to 100 mW (32 Ω) of power per channel and balanced headphones with up to 250 mW (32 Ω) of power. The use of the balanced output jack drops the channel crosstalk from ~76 dB to ~121 dB (1kHz, 32Ω).
The Snowsky Melody supports USB Audio Class (UAC) 1 and 2 connections with Android and iOS smartphones and tablets, Windows and macOS computers, and gaming console devices, including the Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5.
The DAC measures 42 x 22.5 x 11.5 mm (1.65 x 0.89 x 0.45 in.) and weighs 10 g (0.35 oz.). The Snowsky Melody is available from Fiio's AliExpress store for a MSRP of $62.26 in maple or walnut. Readers looking for a smaller DAC or one with an OLED display can look through Fiio's other models sold on Amazon.
