Digital Chat Station has shed new light on the adoption of higher refresh rate displays by Chinese Android OEMs. To recap, Debayan Roy indicated a few days ago that OnePlus plans to depart from the 144 Hz displays it has included in recent performance-oriented smartphones like the Ace 5 Ultra. Starting from the Ace 6, OnePlus is expected to offer smartphones with 165 Hz refresh rate displays.
As it stands, the Ace 6 is anticipated to arrive in other markets as the OnePlus 15R. According to Digital Chat Station, the Ace 6 could be the first of many OnePlus smartphones to feature 165 Hz displays, all with flat finishes. Meanwhile, the same leaker adds that Xiaomi has officially started testing the same refresh rate for future smartphones. As the screenshot below shows, Digital Chat Station believes that Xiaomi will confine 165 Hz refresh rate technology to its Redmi division.
Given the company's recent releases, it would seem that Digital Chat Station is implying that a future Redmi K series handset could be the first to jump from the current 144 Hz peak to 165 Hz. In other words, we may see a subsequent Poco F or Xiaomi T series smartphone with a 165 Hz display too, given that the Poco F7 Ultra and Xiaomi 14T Pro (curr. $629 on Amazon) are re-branded versions of the Redmi K80 Pro and Redmi K70 Ultra, respectively. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen when a 165 Hz Redmi-branded smartphone will officially launch.
