Vivo has announced a 5G version of the recently launched Y400 smartphone in the Indian market. It’s a mid-range smartphone that comes with a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, a 32 MP selfie camera, and a 120 Hz AMOLED display. Vivo offers glam white and olive green color options for the Y400 5G.

A few days back, Vivo introduced the Y400 4G smartphone in the Indian market. Now, the company has launched its 5G counterpart. The 5G model comes with some additional upgrades, such as a new mid-range Snapdragon processor, an upgraded selfie camera, and fast charging speed. However, design-wise, the smartphone retains a similar look to its 4G model.

To be specific, the new mid-range Vivo Y400 5G is powered by a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, which is paired with up to 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage with no room for storage expansion. Vivo has also upgraded the selfie camera of the smartphone, featuring a 32 MP front camera (up from 8 MP of the Y400 4G model) for selfies and video chats.

There’s no change in the battery capacity. The device retains the same 6,000 mAh battery from the 4G model. However, it now supports 90 W wired charging (100 W Anker Prime charger curr. $45.99 on Amazon), a step up from the 44 W of the Vivo Y400 4G variant. You’ll get a dual rear camera setup at the back, consisting of a 50 MP primary camera and a 2 MP depth sensor. Moreover, the device boots Funtouch OS 15 based on Android 15 out of the box. As usual, there’s no word on software support from the brand.

The phone has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display that outputs at a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a peak brightness of 1,800 nits. Other highlights of the new Y400 5G include an in-display optical fingerprint sensor, IP68/IP69 ingress protection, and up to 8 GB dynamic RAM support.

As for the price, the Vivo Y400 5G starts at INR 21,999 ($250) for the base 8 GB + 128 GB variant, while the 8 GB + 256 GB model is priced at INR 23,999 ($273). Available in olive green and glam white colorways, the device will go on sale from August 7 via Vivo India’s official website and other authorized retailers.
