The Amazfit Balance 2 smartwatch has been launched in China. It builds on the original Amazfit Balance wearable, which was released in 2023. This latest version has various tweaks and upgrades compared to its predecessor.
Firstly, Amazfit has made the watch slightly bigger, with a 47 mm (~1.85 inch) rather than a 46 mm (~1.81 inch) diameter. It uses the same 1.5-inch AMOLED display with a 480 x 480 px resolution, though the Balance 2 offers sapphire crystal glass protection, which should be more durable than the tempered glass used on the older model. The new version is shown with black and orange leather straps, and it appears to be a little heavier at 42 g (~1.5 oz) rather than 35 g (~1.2 oz).
Another upgrade is the 658 mAh battery, which has an almost 200 mAh greater capacity. As such, the battery life has been extended to 21 days, a whole week more than its predecessor. The watch is also expected to last longer in power-saving GPS mode, offering 67 rather than 52 hours. It uses the same chipset as the T-Rex 3 with 32 GB memory, and it will run the new Zepp OS 5 software.
According to Amazfit, the Balance 2 is the first smartwatch to feature dual speakers, which are used in features like Bluetooth calling. Like its predecessor, it supports offline maps and music storage. There is a new golf feature with course guidance and advanced running dynamics like vertical amplitude and ground contact time. Plus, the Balance 2 is said to be waterproof to 10ATM, with a diving mode expected to arrive in a future OTA update.
The Amazfit Balance 2 smartwatch has a CNY 2,199 (~$305) RRP in China. It is already available to pre-order at stores like JD.com, with an official launch planned for May 20th. However, there are currently no details as to when this wearable could launch in markets worldwide or how much it would cost. As a reminder, the original Amazfit Balance smartwatch is priced at $199.99 (curr. $149.99 at Amazon).
