Zepp Health has confirmed more information about Zepp OS 5 for Amazfit smartwatches. This new smartwatch arrived with the Amazfit Balance 2 wearable, which was launched in China earlier in May 2025.
Zepp OS 5 brings a range of new features for Amazfit smartwatches. These include a magnifying glass mode, allowing you to enlarge a part of the display, and a glove mode, which makes it easier to use the touchscreen when you are wearing gloves. There is a new Jet Lag Manager tool which helps you to adapt to a new time zone when travelling. Other additions include a dedicated golf app and advanced running metrics like vertical oscillation and ground contact time. Plus, it allows you to transfer FLAC media files to the watch for local music playback.
On Reddit, a Zepp Health representative confirmed that these are just some of the features included with Zepp OS 5. They point to more new features arriving in future updates, like adjustable font sizes and a scuba diving activity. In the same thread, Zepp Pay for the US is discussed. It appears that, while Zepp Health is keen to provide this, its implementation is proving difficult. As such, there remains no timeline for a Zepp Pay release in the US.
Zepp Health has yet to confirm which other Amazfit smartwatches will receive Zepp OS 5. It seems likely that the other 2025 releases, the Amazfit Bip 6 and the Amazfit Active 2 (curr. $99.99 at Amazon) will get the upgrade. Plus, given that the T-Rex 3 uses the same chipset as the Balance 2, it could also be on the way to this slightly older model. It remains to be seen when the Balance 2 smartwatch will launch globally.
