iQOO Neo5: more details on the Snapdragon 870 phone reportedly emerge prior to its launch
Vivo is rumored to launch the next generation of its iQOO Neo sub-series in March 2021. This upcoming 5 variant was originally rumored to boast improved 88W Flash Charging in addition to the "new" Snapdragon 870 processor. However, those encouraging leaks may have been disproved with a subsequent live image purporting to show the phone in its box with a 66W power brick.
Nevertheless, the rate hinted at in the newer leak is still pretty fast, and is a good sign the Neo5 will ship with a charger in the box besides. The tip may have been confirmed with a new 3C registration for a "vivo V2055A" (the iQOO phone's possible model number) with a 4400mAh battery and, yes, 66W charging.
The Neo5 has also allegedly been snapped with its OriginOS specs page open, thus possibly confirming it will launch with this new Android 11 skin, at least 1 128GB internal storage SKU and 8GB of RAM (although Vivo claims its software extrapolates this to the equivalent of 11GB in terms of performance).
That leak also seems to confirm the 870 platform for the phone, although it also hints at a display with an old-fashioned waterdrop notch due to the screen-protector visible in the image. The Neo5 is also rumored to have a 12GB RAM/256GB storage option, to start at 3598 yuan (~$556), whereas its 8/128GB version will be 2998 yuan (~US$464).
Therefore, it is to be hoped it has a good, high-end display in order to take on potential rivals such as the Motorola Edge S on its launch.
Alternatively, iQOO's Snapdragon 888-powered flagship is now available on Amazon.
