While the Chinese New Year may have put a temporary stop to Xiaomi's rollout of the Android 11 update, the company is soldiering on. After blessing phones like the Mi 10T series and Mi Note 10 Lite, Xiaomi is now sending out the Android 11 update to the Redmi Note 8.
This isn't quite the time for celebrations, however, as the update is currently only rolling out in Xiaomi's home country of China. The update arrives with the designation "MIUI 12.0.1.0 RCOCNXM", indicating that while it is, indeed, an Android 11 update, it still comes with MIUI 12, not MIUI 12.5 as has been touted.
With the update currently rolling out in China, it shouldn't take much longer for other models of the Redmi Note 8 to get the OTA. If previous major releases are any indication, the update should land on European and Global models of the device sometime next month. Of course, Xiaomi has a rather horrid update record with the Redmi Note 8, so nothing is set in stone.
