Exynos 2100 powered Vivo flagship smartphone reportedly in the works
A new leak from Weibo user Arsenal (via @chunvn8888 on Twitter) suggests that Vivo is working on a smartphone powered by Samsung's Exynos 2100. It will be the second Vivo-branded smartphone to run a Samsung chipset; the first being the Vivo X60 series, which showed us the Exynos 1080's power.
The mystery Vivo smartphone also has a Snapdragon 888 version in the works. However, only one of the two will be launched commercially. The smartphone will allegedly feature some 'very scary' hardware from Samsung that isn't the chipset. Our educated guess is that it's probably referencing some kind of heretofore-unseen display or camera technology.
It is far too early to speculate which Vivo smartphone is being referenced here. Based on the choice of SoC, we're probably looking at a new Vivo Nex smartphone, presumably the Vivo Nex 5. Several other Chinese OEMs such as Xiaomi couldn't release their 'concept' smartphone in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The original Vivo Next debuted the world's first-ever pop-up selfie camera, so it'll be interesting to see what the Vivo Nex 5 has in store for us.
