Noted tech tipster Digital Chat Station has posted an intriguing comparison between three devices sporting Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets. Geekbench results by a OnePlus 8 Pro with a Snapdragon 865 and a Vivo V2049A (likely an iQOO 7) with a Snapdragon 888 were posted alongside those of a Vivo V2045 smartphone with an 8-core ARM Qualcomm processor that the leaker states might end up being called the Snapdragon 870.
Regardless of the final name, the potential Snapdragon 870 in this comparison performs very well. The single-core score of 1,034 points and the multi-core score of 3,513 points put this SoC way ahead of the Snapdragon 865 in the OnePlus 8 Pro, by +18.04% and +15.07%, respectively. The mysterious processor also holds up well against the premium Snapdragon 888 in what is probably an iQOO 7 smartphone. The scores produced by the possible SD870 are only -8.98% (single) and -5.05% (multi) behind the SD888 in this particular comparison.
Some further digging into the Vivo V2045 Geekbench listing by Digital Chat Station reveals a 1-core cluster reaching 3.19 GHz, which is higher than the maximum for both the Snapdragon 865 @2.84 GHz and the Snapdragon 865+ @3.1 GHz. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 features a prime core that manages 2.84 GHz thanks to the presence of a Kryo 680 CPU part. This potential Snapdragon 870 is certainly a curiosity that will no doubt find its way into plenty of high-end smartphones in 2021.
