Vivo is currently rumored to be working on what might be the world's first phone with the new Dimensity 1100 processor. It is said to be called the S9, a product name that has surfaced in what might be pre-launch marketing material posted to SlashLeaks. The device looks somewhat like its OEM's flagships, although it might have different specs.

Hype material for a heretofore-unreleased Vivo phone called the S9 has found its way onto SlashLeaks. It shows the device from the back, which reveals its gradient finish and somewhat X60-like rear camera hump. This image is set next to text that seems to draw attention to a 44MP camera. This possible reference to its selfie power might be a strange choice with which to tease this phone, as it is rumored to have more original aspects.

Most prominent among these is its putative Dimensity 1100 SoC. This silicon is probably MediaTek's answer to the Snapdragon 870, and is thus the first processor the chip-maker has pitched at this just-sub-premium tier. Therefore, it might make the "S9" something of a flagship killer, should Vivo get its additional specs and pricing right.

The S9 is also expected to be a 5G device, (obviously) as well as one with a 64MP main rear camera, a ~4000mAh battery and 33W fast charging. The leaker Digital Chat Station also believes a 90Hz AMOLED display is destined for this phone, something the S series does not see very often. Finally, the potentially inaugural Dimensity 1100 vehicle is projected to have an early March 2021 debut.
