The OPPO Find X3 makes its way onto Geekbench with the Snapdragon 870 SoC and 8GB of RAM
OPPO launched the premium-grade Find X2 and X2 Pro in 2020. However, the majority of leaks had only hinted at a successor for only one of them. Known as the PEEM00 or CPH2173 initially, it demonstrated the potential to lead in perfomrance thanks to its Snapdragon 888 SoC. However, it also seemed it was moving so fast that it left its vanilla sibling behind.
Now, however, it looks like the Find X3 is catching up. It has popped up in the form of what might be live screenshots from one of its units, showing that its Chinese-market version is to be called the PEDM00 and that it will have 8GB of RAM as opposed to 12GB in the X3 Pro. Furthermore, it seems OPPO has picked the Snapdragon 870 platform up for this phone, rather than the 888 as in the PEEM00.
Therefore, the Find X3 might represent the potential for "flagship-killer" prices, as an alternative to the probably more expensive X3 Pro. This rumor might now have further weight thanks to new listings for the OPPO PEDM00 on Geekbench.
The device has made it onto the 4 and 5 variants of this benchmark, on which it is detected as having the same specs: 8GB of RAM, Android 11 and a Qualxomm platform called kona. The last of those is associated with the Snapdragon 865 and 865+, but, as demonstrated in previous leaks, can also indicate the presence of the 870.
The "Find X3" has only 1 and 2 listings on Geekbench 4 and 5 respectively at the moment. However, all 3 of these sets of results show very strong single- and multi-core scores each. Therefore, it looks like this new tier of OPPO flagships might prove a good enough buy for many consumers.
