The OPPO Find X3 will launch as a Snapdragon 870-powered phone: new leak
Previously, the prolific tipster Digital Chat Station strongly hinted that OPPO would pick up the Snapdragon 870 (released by Qualcomm as a refreshed 865+ and, thus, a new option for new sub-flagship phones in 2021) for use in an unspecified new device.
The same OEM is expected to launch the Find X3 series in March 2021, although only its Pro variant has surfaced in any leaks, leaving the tech sphere to wonder where the X2's successor went. Now, these 2 mysteries may have been resolved in a new post.
This new contribution to SlashLeaks mirrors one earlier attributed to the Find X3 Pro, in that it appears to consist of screenshots taken directly from the phone detailing some important specs via either its ColorOS UI or through app views such as that of AnTuTu. However, these pages are apparently from a device called the PEDM00.
The commonality of this model number and that of what is probably the X3 Pro (PEEM00) would indeed be a good enough sign that what has leaked here is the vanilla Find X3, even if this name did not also overtly appear in the shots.
They may also reveal that the device in question has 8GB of RAM, 256GB of internal storage, an FHD+ display (whereas the Pro might have one of QHD+ in resolution), and a 12.7MP sensor that is most likely its selfie camera.
However, most pressingly, the new leak puts this putative Find X3's processor as the 870, not the 888. This is underpinned by the liberal sprinkling of the code-name kona and model number SM8250 throughout this new leak.
Therefore, it looks like OPPO will offer not just 1 but 2 discrete tiers of premium phone when it comes time to launch this new series. Furthermore, they are expected to do so alongside mid-range Neo and Lite variants that are most likely Reno5 5G-series rebrands and, thus, might also be worthwhile for many consumers.
