OPPO hints at a March 2021 launch for the Find X3 flagship series; intros Snapdragon 480-based A93 5G
A new OPPO post on Weibo can be interpreted to be the OEM's opening salvo in terms of Find X3 teasers. It consists of text that translates to the phrase "Impossible Surface", the flagship series' new tagline. It might refer to either a premium display or, possibly, the rear-panel glass that is seen to form a smooth lump around its iPhone-esque camera square in a recent Evan Blass leak.
OPPO has posted it along with a phrase "See you in March". Therefore, it seems that this is when the successors to the Find X2 and X2 Pro may be unveiled - around the same time as the currently projected launch date of the OnePlus 9 series.
Meanwhile, another more affordable device that has launched for sure has arrived in the form of the A93 5G. It is a new Snapdragon 480-powered variant of the original A93 (even though there are now also rumors of an impending A94 successor as well), and also comes with 8GB of RAM with 128GB or 256GB of expandable storage.
It has a 6.5-inch FHD+ 90Hz display, although these appreciable specs are present in an LCD rather than AMOLED display. It shows an Android 11-based ColorOS 11.1 UI, kept on with a 5,000mAh battery.
On the opposite side, there are 48+2+2MP cameras in a rectangular module set into a rear panel with a new "liquid coating" treatment for a light-bending effect in its Black, Aurora or Silver colorways.
Besides this, the A93 5G offers a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and a 3.5mm jack at one end. This may be good news for those with 1999 yuan (~US$308) to spend on a new smartphone.
This is what OPPO asks for the 256GB storage SKU, as the 128GB alternative has not yet been made available. There is no word on how much it will cost, although it is likely to prove as good a bargain as the currently-preorderable A93 5G.
