OnePlus Watch: Images of two versions emerge in German Patent Office filing
The German Patent and Trademark Office (DPMA) is not known as a source for details about upcoming hardware releases typically. However, Technik News has uncovered two smartwatch designs that OnePlus filed with the DPMA last month. These designs suggest that OnePlus still plans to release a conventional smartwatch, following the OnePlus Band release in India.
The two variants are based on the same chassis, but there are a few key differences. For one, they look like they are different sizes. On the other hand, the sketches indicate that one smartwatch has a leather band, and the other a silicone one. The former also has an unusual clasp for linking the watch bands, similar to those that metal watch bands have.
Both variants have standard links though and identically-positioned buttons. Moreover, they both appear to have a speaker, two charging pins and spaces for sensors, presumably for measuring heart rates and blood oxygen saturation levels. There is a chance that OnePlus' final designs do not look like the ones shown here. A look at the other sketches that OnePlus has filed with the DPMA supports the assertion that they will, though. According to past rumours, OnePlus will announce its first smartwatch next month alongside the OnePlus 9 series.
