Xiaomi has revealed the New Year Edition of the Mi 10 2021 smartphone, which mainly differs from the 2020 variant of the Mi 10 by probably featuring a Snapdragon 870 processor instead of a Snapdragon 865 (see table below for key differences). The Xiaomi Mi 10 2021 comes in a brightly designed box that features an image of an ox on it, as February 12, 2021 to January 31, 2022 is the Year of the Ox in the Chinese zodiac.
The buffed-up processor is not the only difference that is expected between the Mi 10 2021 and the original model though, as it is believed the New Year Edition phone will sport a 120 Hz AMOLED, whereas the 2020 Mi 10 had a 90 Hz screen. The battery is the same capacity (4,780 mAh), and the main camera specs for the potentially Snapdragon 870-based Mi 10 are also expected to be the same at 108 MP + 13 MP + 2 MP + 2 MP.
The price of the Xiaomi Mi 10 2021 New Year Edition is listed at 3,399 yuan (although there seems to be a temporary discount in place). This is cheaper than the base model of the Snapdragon 865-powered Mi 10, which was priced at 3,999 yuan. It seems unlikely that the special edition Mi 10 will go on sale beyond the shores of its domestic market though, and it is likely to launch in China before the end of February.
