Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra leaks confirm design with no expandable storage, less RAM than its predecessor and no bundled accessories
The Galaxy S21 Ultra has leaked ahead of its anticipated release on January 14. The device will arrive with the already announced Snapdragon 888 in the US and the soon-to-be-released Exynos 2100, which Samsung will showcase on January 12. The Galaxy S21 Ultra will be Samsung's flagship of flagships for the first half of 2021, or at least until a new Galaxy Z and Galaxy Note smartphone comes along.
So far, Roland Quandt and Evan Blass have published multiple renders of the Galaxy S21 Ultra, which we have included below. Unsurprisingly, the Galaxy S21 Ultra sports a similar design to the rest of the Galaxy S21 series, renders of which have also appeared online this week. According to Quandt, Samsung will only sell 5G versions of the Galaxy S21 Ultra in Europe. These SKUs will be available with 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB of storage, but only 12 GB of RAM. Expandable storage has been dropped from this year's model, too.
So, the Galaxy S21 Ultra has less RAM than its predecessor and no microSD card slot. It does have Samsung's new 108 MP ISOCELL HM3 camera sensor though, along with two 10 MP telephoto cameras and a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle camera. There is a 40 MP selfie camera up front too that appears to have similar specifications to the one that Samsung included in the Galaxy S20 Ultra.
We have summarised the leaked specifications of the Galaxy S21 Ultra below. Other takeaways include a smaller display, a heavier overall weight, fewer colours from which to choose and some slight video recording improvements like 8K at 30 FPS. Quandt adds that Samsung will not include a charger with the Galaxy S21 Ultra, nor any of the Galaxy S21 series devices in Europe. There will be headphones or a case, either. The Galaxy S21 Ultra should be available to pre-order before the end of January.
