The Galaxy S21 series is due to arrive on January 14, but the prices of Samsung's upcoming flagships have already leaked. Seemingly first published by 91Mobiles and Ishan Agarwal, the prices show that Samsung plans to take a different approach with its flagship smartphone series for 2021.
According to 91Mobiles and Agarwal, Samsung will charge the following for the Galaxy S21 series in Europe:
Galaxy S21
- €849 (128 GB)
Galaxy S21+
- €1,049 (128 GB)
- €1,099 (256 GB)
Galaxy S21 Ultra
- €1,399 (128 GB)
Samsung is expected to sell the series in more memory configurations than Agarwal has offered prices. A 512 GB version of the Galaxy S21 Ultra should exist, for example, which will probably cost well over €1,500. Determining the prices of the Galaxy S21 series in other markets is not as simple as using the current exchange rate. Hence, we shall refrain from speculating about the prices of the three smartphones in the US and elsewhere.
Nonetheless, the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21+ are cheaper than their predecessors, albeit only by €50. By contrast, the Galaxy S21 Ultra is €50 more expensive than the Galaxy S20 Ultra. So, it seems that Samsung is making the Galaxy S series more accessible while positioning the premier model as an even more premium handset than it did last year.
Either way, €849 for a smartphone with a plastic back will be considered overpriced by many people. Likewise, €1,049 and €1,399 for smartphones with 128 GB of storage and no microSD card will be a bitter pill to swallow.
