iQOO confirmed the iQOO 16 will launch in China on September 29, 2026, arriving in Chasing Light, Legend, and Track colorways. The device features a newly redesigned "Tomorrow's Porthole" camera module and is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor alongside a dedicated Q4 gaming chip.

iQOO recently revealed key display specifications for its highly anticipated iQOO 16, following earlier teasers of the phone's redesigned rear chassis. Today, the company officially announced the launch date for the upcoming OnePlus 16 rival while also showcasing the specific color variants the device will feature. The iQOO 16 is scheduled for an official unveiling in China on September 29, with retail sales set to commence immediately following the launch event.

The smartphone introduces a futuristic "Tomorrow's Porthole" design language for its camera array. Buyers will have three color options to choose from. The flagship Chasing Light variant uses laser holographic imaging to create dynamic, shifting red and blue light effects depending on the viewing angle. The device will also be available in a lighter-shaded Legend finish and a dark grey Track variant featuring a smooth matte texture.

Customers can secure their iQOO 16 by purchasing a special "lucky bag" for just 9.90 yuan (approximately $1.5)

To incentivize early adopters ahead of the official September 29 release, iQOO has opened early pre-reservations in China. Buyers can also secure their iQOO 16 by purchasing a special "lucky bag" for just 9.90 yuan (approximately $1.5), which unlocks potential rewards valued at up to 3,403 yuan (approximately $507).

Following the aesthetic reveals, iQOO highlighted significant upgrades to the front of the device. The brand is fronting the iQOO 16 as the industry's first smartphone to feature a 2K resolution display paired with a 165Hz refresh rate. The screen uses a new Samsung M16 OLED panel capable of reaching a global peak brightness of 2,800 nits and an exceptional 10,000 nits of local peak brightness. The same display will reportedly be featured in the Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra.

To further enhance the gaming experience, the panel integrates the company's Q-Flex technology, which supports up to 500Hz multi-finger touch sampling and an impressive 5,000Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate. The 508 PPI display also features DC dimming and a wide DCI-P3 color gamut while maintaining high power efficiency.

The iQOO 16 is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, paired closely with an in-house Q4 gaming chipset to handle sustained performance workloads. The redesigned squircle camera island on the back, which features a unique hexagonal pattern, houses a large-sensor triple-camera setup. Notably, official teaser images confirm support for 100x digital zoom, indicating the presence of a dedicated telephoto lens within the array.
