iPhone 15-series OtterBox Lumen Series Passport cases launch as new travel-themed protective accessories
The JerryRigEverything x dBrand partnership and CASETiFY are currently embroiled in a legal battle to determine which teardown-themed case came first; however, either group would have a much harder time raising an issue with the new Lumen Series Passport accessories in terms of original device-cover IP.
The cases have the same grippy sides and "3x MIL-STD-810G 516.6" durability rating as some other OtterBox cases - however, they are the only ones that depict city-scapes as seen from above on their rear panels. The aerial maps have been reproduced by hand in grayscale (and the odd metallic accent) by in-house artist Jane Fowler.
To date, 4 cities have been graced with Lumen cases: London, Paris, Tokyo and New York, each view of which is also thoughtfully accented with little icons for famous buildings or monuments such as the Empire State Building or the Arc de Triomphe to indicate their locations.
The "50% recycled material" accessories are compatible with the iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro or 15 Pro Max. Each one is finished with a MagSafe ring embossed with the name, latitude and longitude of the city in question.
That final flourish is echoed in the OtterBox Rugged Series Passport AirTag case, which is priced at US$19.95 whereas each case currently goes for US$59.95. For those who think they or their loved ones might prefer something a little cleaner and actually transparent, the OEM's Defender Series XT alternatives are available on Amazon.
