You can now buy an official Nintendo Switch Dock for just US$39.99

Reliable Nintendo Switch Docks are hard to come across. A brand-new official first-party version is expensive and still has limited availability, if it is even in stock in your region. The Dock Set, which includes a Dock, AC adapter and HDMI cable, costs US$89.99 and £79.99 in the UK. However, it is currently out of stock on the official Nintendo UK online store and limited to one per customer when it is orderable.

The expense of the official Switch Dock has resulted in hundreds of third-party alternatives appearing online, but these have their issues too. Anecdotally, some do not work, while there have been numerous reports of third-party docks bricking Switch systems.

Thankfully, Nintendo of America is now offering an official Switch Dock for US$39.99 on its website, with there being no limits on how many people can order. The catch? Well, it is refurbished and comes with just a 90-day warranty. Moreover, US$39.99 gets you only the Switch Dock and not the HDMI cable or AC adapter that you will also need, with the latter costing an additional US$29.99.

You would still save US$20.01 by buying a refurbished dock and an AC adapter though, and it would make for a more reliable alternative to a third-party dock. Alternatively, it could be the basis of a custom-portable dock, if you fancy building a 3D-printed version. Currently, we can only find the refurbished Switch Dock on the US website, but hopefully this is a sign of Nintendo starting to offer a cheaper form of the accessory worldwide, albeit as a refurbished unit.
