Xiaomi has released its first smart scale with a rechargeable battery. It charges via USB-C and the battery lasts up to 150 days on a single charge. In addition, the price of the scale is the equivalent of $30.

Xiaomi has announced more than a handful of smart scales over the years, but its latest model is the first to feature a rechargeable battery. The new scale will be available first in China, but considering Xiaomi has launched previous models in other countries, there's a chance this will get an international release.

The new scale will be sold as the Mi Home Body Fat Scale 4 Pro (machine translation), although if there's a global version, it should arrive as the Xiaomi Body Composition Scale 4 Pro. The smart scale is white and features an ITO-coated tempered glass with a four-quadrant design visible underneath it, just like that of the Mijia Body Composition Scale S400 Pro.

According to Xiaomi, the ITO-coated tempered glass has low resistance, oxidation resistance, and corrosion resistance compared to electrode pads used in older models such as the Xiaomi Body Composition Scale S400 (available on Amazon for $64.99). The scale also has rounded corners, and while the underside isn't visible, it should have slip-resistant pads.

xiaomi's Body Composition Scale 4 Pro is only available in China for now.

Xiaomi hasn't revealed the full specs of the smart scale but says that the user experience has been improved and it has added more body composition indicators. In addition, it boasts dual-frequency bioelectrical impedance measurement for more precision. When the readings for fat mass and body fat percentage are compared to DEXA, the medical gold standard, the correlation is greater than 0.93. Xiaomi also claims the scale features an accurate pet-carrying weighing mode.

However, the biggest upgrade for users is the fact that the Xiaomi Body Composition Scale 4 Pro now has a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, eliminating the need to purchase disposable AAA batteries which can sometimes corrode the terminals. The Xiaomi Body Composition Scale 4 Pro charges via a USB-C port and a full charge should provide up to 150 days of use.

The Xiaomi Body Composition Scale 4 Pro has a price tag of CNY 199 (~$29/€26), but those who purchase it during the crowdfuding period will get it for CNY 129 (~$19/€17). This is a fraction of the price of the Withings Body Scan (available on Amazon for $499.95) which also has a rechargeable battery. There are no listings of the new smart scale on any of Xiaomi's websites yet as the pre-order begins on September 21. Once the product page is up, we should have the full spec sheet.
