Battery performance is one of the most important things in a smartphone, and Xiaomi has been doing its best to stay at the top of the game. For the past year or so, there have been multiple reports of the company working on an unprecedented 100 W fast-charging technology. Well, that tech is ready now, and it sure impresses.
Xiaomi calls it Super Charge Turbo, which is a cool-sounding name. For once, though, real-world performance matches the grandeur of the naming scheme. Xiaomi's 100 W Super Charge Turbo charges a 4000 mAh battery from 0% to 100% in just 17 minutes.
For some perspective, the current most powerful charging technology, OPPO's 65 W SuperVOOC 2.0 which debuted on the OPPO Reno Ace, charges a 4000 mAh battery full in 30 minutes. This means that Xiaomi's technology is nearly twice as fast as the fastest charging technology we have right now, and that's impressive no matter how you look at it.
As with most high-power fast-charging technologies, we're not sure how much this negatively affects the phones' batteries, in the long-term. We also don't know when this tech will be made available to the public; perhaps on the Mi 10?
