Xiaomi launches Smartmi Pioneer A1 robot mop vacuum cleaner
Xiaomi has released the Smartmi Pioneer A1 smart mop vacuum cleaner for pre-order. The wet and dry vacuum is currently available via Xiaomi’s crowdfunding platform, Youpin.
The Pioneer A1’s design is unusual, with the roller brush visible at the front of the device; many robot vacuums and mops have their tools stored directly below the body. Perhaps this is due to the ‘extra long’ brush, measuring 9.4-inches (23.8 cm) across.
Xiaomi claims that the high-speed roller brush can complete 1,600 rotations per minute when cleaning. The vacuum also has 4,000 Pa of suction, which the device can use for wet and dry dirt.
The robot is equipped with two water tanks, one to house fresh water and the second to collect dirty water. The Pioneer A1 is also self-cleaning without the need for the device to visit the base station, as is the case for other similar models.
The gadget can navigate around a room using an LDS laser module that sits on the top of the device, allowing it to plan routes. The Pioneer A1 has many standard features of robot vacuums, such as the ability to set no-go zones and the option to use voice controls. The vacuum measures 13.3 x 13.1 x 5.0-inches (33.8 x 33.4 x 12.8 cm) and has a 5,200 mAh lithium-ion battery.
The Smartmi Pioneer A1 robot vacuum is currently selling for ~US$536 (€490) in China. After the pre-sale, the price of the vacuum will increase to ~US$789 (€721). It is unclear whether or when Xiaomi might bring this product to the rest of the world.
