IKEA has added two new blinds to its smart home range, PRAKTLYSING and TREDANSEN. You can remotely adjust the smart blinds to lighten and darken your room. These devices join two other smart roller blinds in IKEA’s range, the KADRILJ and the FYRTUR.
PRAKTLYSING is a battery-operated white honeycomb blind. The device is available in two sizes: 47 x 77-in (120 x 195 cm) for US$138 (€125) and 55 x 77-in (140 x 195 cm) for US$143 (€129).
TREDANSEN is also a white blind that is battery operated. However, this is a blackout blind with a pleated design instead. The blind comes in the same sizes as PRAKTLYSING but is a little bit more expensive at US$160 (€145) for the smaller blind and US$165 (€149) for the larger version.
Alongside these new products, the company is also updating IKEA Home Smart, its smart home system. Version 1.18.1 integrates the two blinds into IKEA’s smart ecosystem.
You can adjust the blinds using the IKEA app mentioned above or third-party apps such as Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Home. Users can also use voice controls with the gadget for any of these services. To be able to use the smart blinds, customers will also need to purchase the TRÅDFRI gateway.
PRAKTLYSING and TREDANSEN are currently available in Germany. It is not clear whether or when IKEA will bring these smart blinds to the rest of the world.
