Better in every way: Motorola listened and improved the Edge 30 Pro

Motorola’s Edge 30 Pro not only looks good, it was also improved significantly. Unfortunately, the camera array is not free of criticism.
Motorola’s Edge 30 Pro not only looks good, it was also improved significantly. Unfortunately, the camera array is not free of criticism.
Plenty of power, an up-to-date processor, and Ready For software - Motorola's flagship has quite a few things to offer. Find out in our extensive review why still had a gripe with its camera system.

As reviewers, we tend to criticize smartphones a lot. We are, however, also pleasantly surprised when a manufacturer actually listens to our criticism and improves a device, as is the case with the Motorola Edge 30 Pro, the latest flagship released by American-Chinese OEM Motorola.

When reviewing the Edge 20 Pro, our main points of criticism were the lack of wireless charging and the mono speaker, both of which were addressed in the Edge 30 Pro. It supports Qi wireless charging and comes with very good stereo speakers. It also features a somewhat bright and color accurate 144 Hz AMOLED display.

It also continues to support Motorola’s Ready For software for connecting to a PC or using the smartphone as a PC replacement. This new generation further supports stylus input and is powered by the brand-new Snapdragon 8 Gen. 1.

Further benefits include fast Wi-Fi 6E, a USB-C port with DisplayPort support, accurate location services, and a good call quality, all of which helped the Edge 30 Pro to score very well in our review.

The camera system, on the other hand, has been revolutionized and flipped on its head. Instead of the predecessor’s high-resolution main camera without OIS paired with a lower resolution periscope zoom camera with OIS the new device comes with two 50 MP cameras, a main lens, and a wide-angle lens. And instead of utilizing a periscope zoom users are now limited to a rather mediocre digital zoom.

However, as we all know not all that glitters is gold, and the Edge 30 Pro is not free of criticism either. If you want to find out more take a look at our extensive Motorola Edge 30 Pro review review.
