Bowers & Wilkins has unveiled the Panorama 3, a soundbar that features a new design compared to its predecessor. While the Panorama 2 had a curved design and front-facing controls, the Panorama 3 has a more angular look with subtly-rounded corners. Additionally, Bowers & Wilkins has perforated the top panel for the soundbar's two upward-facing Dolby Atmos drivers, each with a 50 mm diameter.
Additionally, the Panorama 3 has six 50 mm woven glass fibre cone drivers, two 100 mm drivers for bass response and a further 3 titanium dome tweeters measuring 19 mm in diameter. Bowers & Wilkins combines these drivers with an integrated amplifier that can output at up to 400 W with a frequency range of 43 Hz to 48 kHz. Apparently, the soundbar consumes less than 2 W when on standby too.
Moreover, the soundbar can connect to an existing set-up via HDMI eARC or Toslink or to another device using Bluetooth 5.2. Accordingly, the Panorama supports the Qualcomm aptX Adaptive codec, along with Apple AirPlay 2 or the Bowers & Wilkins Music App. Furthermore, the Panorama 3 is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Spotify Connect.
The Panorama 3 retails for US$999 in the US, where it is already orderable. In comparison, the soundbar costs £899 in the UK and €999 in the Eurozone. For context, the Panorama 3 is almost half the price of the Panorama 2 when it debuted in 2013 for £1,650.
