Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Pro to launch during MIX Fold 3 event with Apple Watch styling
Xiaomi has begun revealing which other devices it plans to introduce during next week's MIX Fold 3 launch event. As expected, the company has lined up the Redmi K60 Ultra, also known as the Redmi K60 Extreme Edition, and the Pad 6 Max, a larger version of the Pad 6 Pro. Additionally, Xiaomi has confirmed the impending arrival of the Smart Band 8 Pro, which looks more like a successor to last year's Smart Band 7 Pro than a Smart Band 8 counterpart.
With that being said, the Smart Band 8 Pro leans more heavily into the design language of recent Apple Watch models than its predecessor. According to Xiaomi, the Smart Band 8 Pro has a 1.74-inch AMOLED display, which is only 0.1-inches larger than the equivalent in the Smart Band 7 Pro. However, the additional size gives the newer model a squarer design, hence the comparisons with various Apple Watch generations.
The Smart Band 8 Pro will retain a flat display though, with Xiaomi electing against adopting the 2.5D effect that Apple applies to its smartwatches. While Xiaomi has not revealed full specifications yet, it has confirmed that the large display will output at 60 Hz with a 336 PPI pixel density and in 16.7 million colours. Xiaomi has not commented on global availability yet, although this also applies to the regular Smart Band 8 that debuted in April. Thus, the company may take a few more months to deliver the Smart Band 8 Pro globally.
