Oppo has revealed first details about the Watch 4 Pro, its next flagship smartwatch. So far, the company has outlined that the Watch 4 Pro will combine the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset with 2 GB of RAM and a power-efficient Bluetooth chipset. New health tracking features are headed the way of the Oppo Watch 4 Pro too, including a skin temperature sensor.

Oppo has begun teasing its next flagship smartwatch, which should debut later this month alongside the Find N3 Flip. As the images below show, the smartwatch will launch as the Watch 4 Pro, not the Watch 5 Pro as earlier rumours suggested. The likes of Digital Chat Station were correct in other areas, such as Oppo's chosen chipset.

On the one hand, the Watch 4 Pro will retain its predecessor's Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 SoC. Typically, that would seem like an unusual decision, but Qualcomm has yet to replace the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 platform. The 4 nm chipset remains best-in-class for Android OEMs though, so much so that Google is also expected to utilise the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 in the Pixel Watch 2.

On the other hand, Oppo will pair the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 with 2 GB of RAM, a doubling from the 1 GB of RAM found in the Watch 3 Pro. Thus, the Watch 4 Pro is likely to feel snappier than its predecessor courtesy of faster app loading times and smooth animations. Additionally, Oppo will complement these components with a BES2700 Bluetooth SoC and an LTPO AMOLED display to maximise battery life.

Moreover, Oppo promises to include a 16-channel blood oxygen sensor in the Watch 4 Pro, an improvement over the 12-channel equivalent in the Watch 3 Pro. Elsewhere, the Watch 4 Pro will feature a stainless steel case, 10 professional sports modes, an 8-channel heart rate sensor, ECG capabilities and a skin temperature sensor. Oppo has not revealed the Watch 4 Pro's design yet, although we imagine that it will closely resemble that of last year's model.
