Xiaomi started selling the Pad 5 today, with the tablet available for €299.90 in the Eurozone and £299 in the UK. However, it seemed that Xiaomi only had a few units to hand, as it ran out of stock within minutes of sales going live.

Xiaomi announced the Pad 5 earlier this month, having originally released it as the Mi Pad 5 4G in China. At the time, Xiaomi claimed that it would be holding a flash sale today, during which it would sell the Pad 5 for €299.90 in the Eurozone and £299 in the UK. For context, the iPad Air 4 costs at least £579 in the UK, while a similarly-equipped Galaxy Tab S7 retails for £619.

While the Xiaomi Pad 5 only has a Snapdragon 860 SoC, its high resolution display can operate at up to 120 Hz, making it a viable option compared to most Android tablets on the market. Unsurprisingly, Xiaomi has attracted plenty of attention from people looking to snap up its 11-inch tablet.

Xiaomi claimed that it would be selling Mi Pad 5 units across Europe for 24 hours, but it has already run out of stock. Apparently, the Pad 5 sold out within 10 minutes in the UK, with Germany and Spain facing similar shortages. Reportedly, Xiaomi only had a few hundred units to sell at €299/£299, if that.

Unfortunately, it is unclear when Xiaomi will restock the Pad 5, although we would expect it to appear again at its full £369/€399 retail price. Currently, Xiaomi is only offering people the option of being notified about when the Pad 5 will be available to purchase.
