The Fengmi R1 may not be cheap, even as ultra-short throw projectors go, but it is relatively compact at least, measuring 304 x 304 x 99 mm. The R1 also supports Advanced Laser Phosphor Display (ALPD) Technology, so it should not damage your eyes, as HDTVTest showed last year.
The ultra-short projector runs natively at 1,920 x 1,080 pixels and can create up to a 200-inch image. Supposedly, the projector maxes out at 1,600 ANSI lumens and has a 3,000:1 contrast ratio, so it may struggle in brighter rooms. The Fengmi R1 can decode 4K material and supports Motion Estimation and Motion Compensation (MEMC), though.
The projector itself runs on Android via a MediaTek MT9669 SoC and 3 GB of RAM. However, it has two HDMI 2.0b ports, a USB 2.0 Type-A port, an Ethernet connection and an optical audio port for connecting external devices. Alternatively, you can stream content over Wi-Fi, should you prefer not to connect another device. to that effect, the Fengmi R1 has dual 10 W speakers that support DTS-HD and Dolby Audio.
The Fengmi R1 is available to order on Banggood for US$1,299.99. Please be aware that there could be import charges and duties on a device as expensive as the Fengmi R1.
