Mi Smart Projector 2 launched in Europe with Android TV and an in-built Bluetooth speaker
Xiaomi has launched quite a few projectors over the past year, few of which hit international shores. The Mi Smart Projector 2 is now official in Europe. A cursory glance at the spec sheet tells us that it could be a rebadged version of the Mi Smart Compact Projector, which was launched earlier this year. It costs €599 (US$708) and will be available for purchase soon.
The Mi Smart Projector 2 has a throw ratio of 1:2:1 and can project on screens between 60 inches and 120 inches. It uses a 4-channel LED as a light source. Maximum brightness peaks at 500 ANSI Lumens, which severely restricts the environments one can use it in. It covers 154% of the Rec 709 colour gamut and can project images at FHD (1,920 x 1,080) resolution. The projector's compact form factor somewhat offsets its less-than-impressive hardware. It is 115mm × 150mm × 150mm in size and weighs approximately 1.3 kilograms, making it easy to lug around in a bag.
Moving on to the Mi Smart Projector's innards, we get 2GB of RAM and 16GB of eMMC storage. It runs Android TV 9.0 out of the box customised with Xiaomi's Patchwall skin. Other features include Google Assistant support, Bluetooth 5.0 and the ability to double up as a Chromecast. The included dual-5W speakers can also act as a Bluetooth audio output for other devices.
