The Mi Pad 5 4G receives a global release as the Xiaomi Pad 5
Xiaomi has brought its latest tablet series to Europe, having announced them last month in China. While Xiaomi's home market received the Mi Pad 5 4G, Mi Pad 5 Pro and the Mi Pad 5 Pro 5G, the rest of the world will only see one model. As far as we can tell, Xiaomi has rebranded the Mi Pad 5 4G as the Pad 5, without making any hardware adjustments.
Specifically, the Xiaomi Pad 5 has an 11-inch display with a WQHD+ resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The IPS panel sits within a 254.69 x 166.25 x 6.85 mm chassis, which is available in Cosmic Gray and Pearl White. Xiaomi complements the large display with four speakers that support Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio, along with an 8,720 mAh battery that can be recharged at up to 22.5 W using the bundled charger.
Xiaomi also describes the Pad 5 as offering 'an iconic camera deco style consistent with the camera design of the Xiaomi 11 series'. However, the Xiaomi Mi 11 has two rear-facing cameras, whereas the Pad 5 has one. Bizarrely, Xiaomi has etched '13 MP' in place of a secondary camera. The tablet has an 8 MP front-facing camera, too.
The Xiaomi Pad 5 relies on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 860, a rebranded Snapdragon 855 Plus, itself based on the Snapdragon 855. Xiaomi has complemented the 5 nm SoC with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB or 256 GB of storage. Incidentally, while the Xiaomi Pad 5 supports a Smart Pen, Xiaomi does not mention the tablet being compatible with a detachable keyboard. The Pad 5 will be available on September 23 starting at €399.90 for the 128 GB model.
