Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 6 NFC released globally with Mastercard contactless payment support
Xiaomi has unveiled an NFC-enabled version of the Mi Band 6 globally. The company launched the Mi Band 6 in March, albeit as the Mi Smart Band 6 in Europe and the US. Initially, Xiaomi only sold a non-NFC model outside China, which the Mi Smart Band 6 NFC addresses.
According to a press release, Xiaomi has partnered with Mastercard again, as it did with the Mi Smart Band 4 NFC. It is unclear which banks will support the Mi Smart Band 6 NFC through Mastercard, though. It appears as though the fitness tracker will only use its NFC chip for mobile payments, too.
Xiaomi has not made any other changes to the Mi Smart Band 6 NFC compared to the Mi Smart Band 6, though. Hence, the Mi Smart Band 6 NFC has a 1.56-inch AMOLED display, a PPG heart rate sensor, 30 fitness modes and up to 14 days of battery life. The Mi Smart Band 6 NFC is also 5 ATM waterproof and supports Bluetooth 5.0 for pairing the fitness tracker with smartphones running Android 5.0 and iOS 10.0 devices or newer. Xiaomi has integrated Amazon Alexa functionality as well, should you use Amazon's digital assistant.
The Mi Smart Band 6 NFC retails for €54.90; €15 more than the non-NFC model.
